Surrendering a Pet
SARL is a limited admission shelter. Pets that were originally adopted from SARL are prioritized for intake, but we do our best to accept as many local surrenders as possible, regardless of where they were originally adopted from. Since our shelter has limited capacity, all surrender requests will be given a full assessment for level of care, need, and our available space before being approved for admission.
We do not euthanize for space. As one animal is adopted and available space opens up, another animal will be approved to come in.
During busy times of the year, we do maintain a wait list. Please call us for more information.

Work with a behaviorist
If you are looking to surrender your furry friend because they are exhibiting undesirable behaviors, we highly recommend seeking the help of a behaviorist. Behaviorists can provide insight into your animal's behaviors and help correct them. We recommend Laurel.
